Mathematics

The Georgia Mathematics standards are designed to achieve a balance among concepts, skills, and problem solving. The standards stress rigorous course development and real-world applications while maintaining a strong emphasis on computational and procedural skills.

The Georgia Department of Education Graduation Rule requires four years of core mathematics coursework in grades 9–12. For many students, high school mathematics will culminate after four courses:

  • Foundations of Algebra

  • Algebra: Concepts and Connections

  • Advanced Algebra: Concepts and Connections

  • Geometry: Concepts and Connections

Some students will seek the opportunity to pursue advanced mathematics courses beyond those included in the general pathway of study which may include:

  • Pre-Calculus

  • Advanced Mathematical Decision Making

  • College Readiness Mathematics

  • AP Statistics

  • AP Calculus AB

  • AP Calculus BC

  • Dual Enrollment Math
