Welcome!

I'm Mrs. Kaiti Lewitt and I am so excited to kick off the 2023-24 school year here at Pickens High School.  This year, I will be teaching mostly Advanced Algebra Concepts and Connections (previously known as Algebra 2) with some Honors Precalculus and Study Skills.  This is my 3rd year at PHS but my 14th year of teaching having previously taught at Tapp Middle School, Gilmer High School, and Creekview High School.  It is my hope that students will either love or learn to love Math as much as I do.  Let's go dragons!

The best way to contact me is kaitilewitt@pickenscountyschools.org or the Canvas inbox.  You can usually expect a response within a day or two (weekends are the exception).

All course materials will be posted in Canvas.  Parents, please don't forget to sign up for an "observer" account so you too can stay tuned to all the happenings in my class.

My Schedule:

First Semester

1st block: Advanced Algebra Concepts and Connections

2nd block: Planning

3rd block: Honors Advanced Algebra Concepts and Connections

4th block: Advanced Algebra Concepts and Connections

Second Semester

If you're interested in a little more about me....

Why would I EVER want to teach Math?!?!?!?

Born in San Diego and transplanted to Roswell, Georgia at the ripe age of 12 years old I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was young.  In high school I zeroed in on teaching Math because I never understood the way the teachers taught.  I had to study (and when I say study, I mean STUDY) examples in the textbook and search for patterns because google and youtube did not exist then...back when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth.  Because I had to work for my Math knowledge, I feel it makes me a better teacher because I can relate to the students' struggles and have ways of breaking down explanations and methods so students can better understand.

My education:

Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education (Math, Language Arts, Reading):  Kennesaw State University 2009

Master of Education in Secondary Math Education: Kennesaw State University 2015

Gifted Endorsement: Kennesaw State University 2015

My family:

I've been married to my husband, Stefan, for 23 years.  Together, we have two daughters - Lexi, a recent graduate of UGA, and Abby who will be a senior this year at Pickens High School.  We have a herd of fur baby shih tzus ranging in weight from 4 lbs and 16 lbs named Minnie, Dottie, Libby, and Rocky.  We live in Canton and enjoy a lot of beach time in Myrtle Beach.
