We encourage all students and their families to check the PHS Scholarships page weekly to view any and all scholarship opportunities that are open to PHS students. Please know that all scholarships that are made available to PHS students from local organizations are posted on this webpage so that all students, their families, staff, and the community can access this information at any time.

There is no guarantee that each of these scholarships will be available again for the 25-26 school year; however, we are hopeful that they will be and that the timeframes will be similar of their application availability as they were last school year!
Below are mostly local, state, and/or some national scholarships that are currently available for students to apply to:
1) Parrish Construction Group Scholarship (posted on 3/16/26)
-Parrish Construction will be giving away a $2,500 scholarship to a top-notch Georgia high school senior who will be 1) graduating in May of 2026 and 2) will be pursuing a degree in Construction Management or a related field.

-This online scholarship application and all of its required documents are due on April 24th. Call Amanda Wood at 478-987-5544 for assistance.
2) Honea-Worley Family Scholarship Fund (posted on 3/19/26)
-This scholarship opportunity is available to all PHS seniors and is managed by the Pickens Historical Society for the Honea-Worley families. You are not required to be college-bound to be considered for this scholarship opportunity. The first place winner will receive $2,000, the second place winner will receive $1,000, and the third place winner will receive $500.
-To apply for this scholarship, high school seniors must submit a four-generation family history paper where at least one person in the research has significant ties to Pickens County, GA (this could be the current resident/student). Research should extend from the current person (the student) and go back through that individual’s parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Please provide more than just dates, places, and names in your paper. Your research should describe a story of the people you are writing about such as who they were, where they came from, the churches they attended, their professions, their education, and any interesting life experiences that you can identify.
-The document that you turn in for this application should resemble that of a term paper and submitted in PDF Format. Assistance with this application can be obtained in the Georgia Room at the Pickens County Library. Works will be judged by a panel independent of the Pickens Historical Society.

-The deadline to submit your application in PDF Format and emailed to pickenshistorical@gmail.com is 12pm on April 27th. The winners will be announced at the May PHS Senior Honors Night.
3) Sassafras Literary – Maria Boling Scholarship (posted on 1/31/26)
-The Sassafras Literary Group is launching a $500 scholarship in honor of Maria Boling. PHS Seniors are welcome to apply to this scholarship opportunity.

-Your essay must be submitted via email to sassafraswriters@gmail.com by April 30th, 2026. Winners will be notified by the Sassafras Literary Group by 5/15/26.
4) Atlanta Postal Credit Union (APCU) Scholarship (posted on 2/2/26)
-APCU is offering a scholarship program that is open to graduating high school seniors who will enroll in and are accepted into an undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school and are members of APCU Center Parc or whose parents, grandparents or legal guardians are members – by the time of entry.

5) WEN of Greater Atlanta “Fueling the Future” Scholarship (posted on 3/9/26)
-The Atlanta Chapter of the Women's Energy Network, through its Fueling the Future scholarship program, is committed to introducing high school students to careers in the energy industry and helping to fuel the energy industry's need for top talent in the future. The Fueling the Future award is a one-time $2,500 scholarship to young women seeking degrees and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and ultimately joining the energy industry. PHS female seniors graduating in May 2026 with a 3.0 GPA are eligible to apply to this scholarship.

-The deadline to submit your online application is May 1st, 2026. The winner of the scholarship will be notified June of 2026 by WEN.
6) The David Skinner/GDA Scholarship (posted on 11/28/25)
-The David Skinner/GDA (Georgia Development Authority) Scholarship awards scholarships in the amount of $2,400 that will be awarded annually to students enrolled in the study of Agriculture or an Agriculture related field.
-Those applying must be a senior, successfully passed their high school academic requirements, have college entrance exam scores (SAT/ACT) qualifying their admission to an accredited Georgia College, must be a Georgia resident living in a rural county (Pickens is a rural county), and must be pursuing a degree directly related to agriculture.

-The scholarship application and all required documents must be postmarked no later than the first Monday in May if you completed a physical copy of the application.
-The deadline for the application submission is May 4th, 2026.
7) State & National Kappa Kappa Iota, Inc., Educational Grant Application (posted on 3/15/26)
-This scholarship/grant opportunity is open to seniors who plan on going to a four-year college beginning in Fall 2026 to pursue a degree in education.

-The scholarship application and all of its required documents must be mailed by the student to the address provided in the application by June 1st, 2026. Be sure to apply to both the State and National Scholarships (same application, used twice). The scholarship committee will notify the scholarship recipient if the student won or not.
8) UNG Cadet Leadership Scholarships (posted on 7/16/25)
-Awarded to interested high school students who will be a Cadet at UNG. Scholarships range from $500-$12,000. These scholarships are fully funded by Alumni and donors to the UNG Corps of Cadets.

-The application process will open on 8/1/25 and applications will be accepted until all scholarships are filled (no official deadline posted).
