US History Syllabus 2019-2020
Us History is a required survey course in the Social Studies Department. Every student must take US History for graduation requirements.
Course Outline: The course is designed to meet Georgia Standards and will cover US History from Early Pre Columbian to Modern times..
The class will consist of a variety of teaching methods that will keep the student engaged during the block period. These activities may include everything from taking notes to worksheets to book work. There will also be technology introduced to the student to better prepare him for the future. There will be an EOC test given at the end of the class which makes up 20% of your grade.
The student will also be involved in many student generated activities.Students will be using USA test prep to help prepare for the EOC.
Class essentials: Students will need the following:
1. A spiral bound notebook
2. A three Ring Binder
3. Colored pencils
4. A Good Attitude
5. Internet Access
Grading: Students will be graded using the following scale:
Exams:60
Daily:40
*THERE WILL BE AN EOC THAT WILL COUNT 20% OF YOUR GRADE.
Classroom Rules:
1. Be respectful to teacher and one another!
2. Keep your hands to yourself
3. Do not abuse hall pass
4. Make up work in a timely manner
5. Do not leave seat without permission
6. Do not talk during lecture or video
7. Do not text during class!
8. Be on time!
9. Sit in assigned seat
10. Come to class prepared!
US GOVERNMENT SYLLABUS
US GOVERNMENT IS A REQUIRED SURVEY COURSE IN THE SOCIAL STUDIES AT PHS. EVERY STUDENT MUST TAKE AND PASS AMERICAN GOVERNMENT TO MEET GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS. THE COURSE IS DESIGNED TO FAMILIARIZE THE STUDENT WITH THE ORIGINS AND WORKINGS OF US GOVERNMENT. THE CLASS WILL BE BASED ON STATE STANDARDS. THE STUDENTS WILL BE ENGAGED IN ACTIVITIES THAT ARE STUDENT ORIENTED
THERE WILL BE A CHAPTER TEST EACH WEEK BASED ON READING QUESTIONS AND MULTIPLE CHOICE WORKSHEETS AND WEBQUESTS.
