Hello!  My name is Rodney Martin and I will serve as Principal at PHS this school year.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from North Georgia College and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Piedmont College.  I am currently pursuing a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Piedmont College.  I hold certifications in secondary biology, secondary broad field science, gifted education, advanced placement, and middle grades math, science, ELA, and social studies.

I have been in education for the last 24 years.  I taught 8th grade earth science at South Forsyth Middle School for two years.  I then taught chemistry, health, and physical science at North Forsyth High School.  While at North Forsyth I coached football and sponsored our Mock Trial team.  I then taught chemistry, physical science, earth science, environmental science, astronomy, and anatomy at South Forsyth High School for several years.  I came to Pickens High 13 years ago and have found a home.  Here at PHS I have taught chemistry, physics, AP chemistry, AP environmental science, physical science, and forensic science.  I also served as the science department chair for 8 years.  I had the pleasure of serving as Instructional Lead Strategist at PHS for one year and moved into administration last year.

I am excited to begin this new school year!  I look forward to working with teachers, students, and administrators to make this year the best ever.  This is a special place filled with special people and I am glad to be a part of it.
